The Next Step

-

"The Next Step" is a story about a not so average teen

who took his life to the next step. Its an extreme look at one's

average life which eventually becomes not so average as one

discover the naive, cynical and dangerous 3rd world that we

live in today. Society ain't so forgiving as our average hero took

each of his next steps and finds the ugliness of the world that

he thought would be so beautiful once he aquires freedom.

Ironically...this story doesn't have a happy ending. Its not a

typical god-mother/father story for the faint heart.

And if you are still reading this and thinking its another

great book i finished reading from Kino;

Another week past by...I can't help but keep thinking

what good have I made use of the last week. I'm like

getting more and more forgetful these days...is it cos i'm

like getting old and useless? I can't help but keep

thinking what will happen if i disappear from this world

the next second. Its a very weird feeling....abit of dreamy.

I think I had too much "白日梦" I dream too much during

the day...I think the more appropriate word should be

"ponder" Narhh....

just can't help it...Lets take a look at last week.

Its interesting to see the hype end so fast and I believe

most of us were either tune to TV or at the respective

coffee shop waiting for Post Election results on Saturday.

I just wonder why theres so much void votes....issit

because some of us get the confusion of the crossing

selection on the party we wanted or issit alot of us actually

didn't wanna side any side of the team. Anyway...I'm sure

alot of people will be ranting about this issue and i'm

pretty confident theres alot to see in the newspaper

tomorrow on "DIGITAL LIFE" about bloggers' view

on GE 2006. I really hope they announce the "computer

show" in June rather than that....

Suddenly the Miyazaki's film.....My brother's gaming on EA's LOTR,

the DOTA's dragon that i've seen..I decided to do a little doodle..

I guess i did OVERDO it....and errr...its really not very decent

but i'm still posting it to kill all ya eyes...lolx

Anyhow..this dragon here probably wont survive...

cos heres the 3 facts:

1) its a chinese dragon with whiskers (ang mor lang one dun have)

2) its not really a chinese dragon cos its not that long....

3) it doesn't have any leg...so it will die of flight in the long run...

This is apparantly a new Trailer of the Movie by Studio Ghibli.

Can't wait for the movie to be out. Although this time round,

the director is his son.

Was it Gozo or Hayao? Hmm..I've got both of them

mixed up. Anyway...it looks like a wonderful film

Actually... I did give a thought about the title.

I know it kinda sux..lolx..but for now...i'll leave it.

I guess the more important role is to concentrate on the

ingredients?, ie; the story.

I still dun feel like showing all the sketches for now...I guess I'll keep

it for myself until the characters are finalised....

Well...heres actually a few stuff i'm currently working on.

1) Ah...the main plot....it took alot of twist and turn. But its getting clearer

each day. How I wished I had took more attention in script writing

when i was in school. I sorta regret that now.

2] Theres alot of styles going on in these particular story...I can't really

settle myself down. I DONT want to get too obsessed with it too....

Lets just see how the rides goes...

3] The rough boards are just starting...And i'm really taking my own

sweet time on it....not because im trying to perfect it. LOLx...

Its actually my laziness thats delaying everything...

4] Sigh...alot of peeps are skeptical about this even before they hear the

story...Its the typical singaporean minds i guess....Just like when

Stephanie Sun went out...everybody in the forum flamed her

for not being able to make her mark out in the market. Its sorta getting

my mood down...I know some of my lecturers thinks I'm crazy and...

the people who did Mr. Kiasu and Legend of Condor were pure

lucky...Whatever that is...everyone's got alot of opinions and

definately...alot of people thinks its crazy to go into the comic

industry...I do agree its very small...actually nearly zero chance....

but its not the money thats making sense...Its this book...its really

the idea behind it....I'm still crossing my fingers and...hopefully...

it can go on the shelves to prove the fact that...

[if we believe in certain things and work hard on it, it'll happen.]

LABOUR DAY

Haoya....Some updates again before i rush

off for a quick dinner with some friends.

First off, been busy this few days trying to back up all my

videos and works did during my school times and these few years...

a Surprised they came up to a good 30 gig. Some of my

friends say i have... 30 gig worth of crap stuff.....well...wat can i say

different people value different things. Anyhow...

I'm posting a sketch today. It took me a hell lot of time to

do the scanning...and how i wish i could have an easier way to place

my scans into coms so that i can post my graphic novel's progression...

I REALLY...REALLY think it is going great...

both the graphic novel and the short strips compilation...

The latter will be easier to finish...the first one..is a bit tougher...

Never the less, TOMORROW...yes tomorrow..i will try to put some

2D scans of the drawing online...so that call can have a

glipse of what it is...well, some friends have already saw the pictures...

hahahha Thats to good thing about meet up sessions.

Anyhow..I'm running late..sorta posting all these last minute...

but today really is a good progresison...cos i finally did

NYP Fusion Show....Confusion.....

The show started around 6pm and the opening ceremony

was at 7pm. Yes..I was late, rushing into the door

while seeing familiar faces and lecturers having various

chit chat sessions, I did a few waves and hi's before i went

in to the theatre. I familiar place I once entered,

The same space, same crowds, same amount of people...

but different feelings..Anyway....it was an interesting crowd

with lots of "Wah..and Wah...." generated by the students...

at least it didsn't seemed as stress as my year...or was it stress??

I only remember being embarrassed when they flash through the

project works i was invovled in...lolx...

come to think of it...why did i think that way??

hahaha... well...

thats for me to know...

I shouldn't comment on the fusion show...

i got a little confuse over judging on things.

I mean..students are still different than industry professionals...

and .....well...what can we all say...I've seen too much grad shows

though i kept a positive look out at the booths.

What disappoints me was...well...the very fact that...hmmm...

it always doesn't seemed robust..(is that the word?? freak...

im really poor at expressing...) I should say erm....There doesn't seemed

like enthusisam(i sux @ spelling) in both the market industry guys and

both the students..I dunno..maybe its just me..I always get it that way..

thus...I'm becoming more...confused...lolx...

Anyhow...I still am using it for like....30 hours every two days??

But compare to other freaks...( yeah..I know alot of you crazy monkeys

out there who onz it for a month....JJ is one of them

I took a look at my webby today...I mean..my blog?

Its been 2 years...since i commission till now. I can't believe it.

And inbetween, I kept thinking of closing it down...so close...

but hell i didn't....so...i'm gonna try to update it regularly again...

Been really busy with lots of paper work that just

simply doesn't make sense. Sometimes the people working

in this organisation are just plain idiotz. You feel like

slapping them in the face somehow.

Well...enough about the complain. Right now, I just finish

sending an illustration to my old client.

Finally...i decided to get my lazy butt on the working desk again...
These few days have been trying to get my life back to order again.

Other than the Food poisen I got from India, been having a tough

time sleeping. Too used to the India timing...I think its all the mind and

body. Right now the adaptation period is quite tough....especially theres

so much things i wanna do...hahahha

Thus...i haven't been resting well and...my diarrea haven recovered.

Trying to compile all the pictures and doing photo-stiching

(my spelling is getting worst) is indeed very time consuming.

Been trying to come up with a travel log website.

The design and all has been draft out but,

due to the amount of paper work on my desk right now...

(I'm just verbally saying it, i DUN have a working desk at home)

Its hard to accomplish my personnal work. Most of the

piority goes to the current job that I'm being paid.

I'm somehow, I'm starting to get worried what I'm gonna

do next year when I'm out.

April's Fool

Today marks the beginning of a new month. But how I had wished that what I heard
during a meeting we had today was all an April Fool's joke.
Sad to say, it ain't.
So once again, I thought I would be back home during early April.
Thats all gonna change. Looks like I won't be back till late April or worst;
early May.....
There much paper work and administrative issues to be settled right now.
Till then, I won't be drawing much or posting much.

And guess what? Chen Li Ping was there filming the

Here I am, missing in action for a few days and god knows,
how many people have forgotten me in life.
(Well actually I got two new guys in my friendster list now. Lolx.
That comes up to 39!! Well…still pathetic, I wonder where all my lost friends go.)
Anyhow, I’ve been busy working on my soon-to-be-history job
out in the nothing but hot country; INDIA (its actually a nice place. =] )
This wonderful country has sells affordable (SG$2) and good magazines
that provides free CDs/DVDs with softwares and lots of stuff.
Thus, below mentioned are two of them which I have tried out.
Well, the rest that are not mentioned SUX.

on the below mentioned 2 situation;
(1) You dun have a life

(2) You refuse to sleep even at 01:00am in the morning

Adobe GoLive CS2

-

Seems like Adobe is targeting the creative market.
The Adobe GoLive CS2 comes jammed packed with Adobe Bridge and
Adobe Help Center. The all so familiar interface of Adobe is back now,
only a slight difference; targeting at Building Webpage and Photo Viewing Software.
And instead of the normal Webpage Builder we have, the Adobe GoLive comes
with lots of functions to alter and edit webpage. One glance on the interface,
it seems very complicated. Without even going through the tutorial,
its easy to figure out how to use the software.
(It roughly depends on how much knowledge you have on
HTML hard code, CSS, Java and web building) But one thing for sure,
with Adobe GoLive , you end up saving lots of time on creating a whole Web Site.
Every Site that is made, GoLive will automatically create the necessary folders
to store all your infos for ease of uploading to the web. And it comes compatible to
shockwave and lots of application. Tested on my laptop, the only flaw is
the speed and bugs that the 30-day trail keeps occurring. It feels almost like
using Adobe Premiere (the older versions) where crashing of the software
becomes very irritating. Otherwise, its really a powerful tool to look forward to.

ArtRage 2

This software is CRAZY. Once I reach Singapore, I’m gonna try exploring the software.
The 4mb free trail (after installation comes up to 6mb) gives you a powerful painting tool
that is fast and GOOD. Not able to understand how to use Painter, this tool is an
alternative to that. It feels like tradition painting and yet, the application is so small in size.
Although the free version doesn’t let you explore and maximized the ability of the software,
(you can’t create layers and stuff) it is good enough for painting and tracing of items.
This painting application is definitely a MUST TRY if you’re a digital artist. Highly Recommend.

End of Feb Update

ARghhh.. My wisdom tooth is killing me.

Freaking dentist who cleared me before I came India.

Should have taken it out while I could….

Now its giving me headaches and fever…

I wished I can pluck it out!!

Anyhow, recently was out in the field again.

The weather is drying everyone up.

Still, manage to do a couple of sketching.

Anyway, did a portrait for my spec and had it framed at the local stores.

Looks cool in the front huh? Cost only $2 SGD.

Thought of doing a poster of my comic and framing it up.

But the handcraft at the back is kinda bad.

Well, what can you ask for with such a price?

The production slowed down recently due to all that swelling in the tooth.

Hopefully I get well soon.

Something crossed my mind this morning, not sure if I’m dreaming;

the childhood memories of Japanese animation came back for a revisit.

(I’m talking about the Japanese anime during the 80s and 90s.)

From Macross the Movie to Ghost Train 999 and a couple which I lost the name.

Those were classic fantasy which would have survived even in our time.

The appeal of it varies from kids to anime fans like me.

The story was the selling point.

Gotta keep reminding myself on that.

My laptop just crashed on me and I can’t remember whatever I was trying to post. Theres a lot of frustration in the air now but then again, that’s life in the new millennium with so many high-tech toys…I can’t wait to buy a new digital SLR.

I figured out that I actually lost a lot of attention on this webby and all the initial intention of settling this place up have gone to drain. With so much things going round my head, and so much doddling and sketching that happened these few days….I am unable to post any pictures of any sort….argh…I wished well and hard that I can be back home soon to my ever wonderful PC (which my brother always fixed up) and post all these drawings and concepts that came to me…Oh well..….Stuck in a place where scanning and printing becomes harder than making coffee, I can only type and continue to stay lonely here. Heck.. anyway, I have myself to blame for not being in focus for the past year. I’m still considering the option of a permanent blog online. ( money issues) where I can really blog on. ( especially when I’ve gotten into production on the comic) Well, judging from my own discipline, I wonder how long or far I can last so, that’s why there ain’t any announcement yet. Probably when I come back home, all these drawing will look like dirts. lolx.

Talking about comic, the much awaited book FLIGHT3 will be out soon during June. (near my birthday!!) I can’t wait to order it at the locals…so far its only available online. And hell do I hate our homeland, or maybe I just hate the people. How I wish there will be a annual comic convention of our local artist. After Mr. Kiasu and the Shen2 Diao1 Xia2 Lu3 series, there’s no news of any local talents on comic creation. It sure is sad. The one comic that sparks off my interest was of our local artist ( Apparantly I dun have the name) who did Long2 Jiu3 Dao1….that was the funniest book and 4-comic strip of all time. I really wonder why he stopped…probably because of the fact that there wasn’t a market here. Sigh…Gone are the days…….

Overseas

Anyhow, I’m planning on a trip to Japan anytime say December? Backpacked would be fun but it’ll all be dedicated to an Art tour in Japan. The biggest problem now is talking my brother into it….since he is the only one which I know that holds an advance Japanese language knowledge. hmmm….this is a tough one.

Graphic Novel/ Comic

Probably I should start looking up the dictionary what is the diff between a graphic novel and a genuine comic.

my thoughts has been clear, finally, the first draft of what i intended to draw two years ago has been out. This might sound big but, actually its very small. I finally got the ideas and strings pull together, the basic outline of the story. Its rare to have such a chance to pop by where all the ideas came into logical sense. Its very refreshing but i have a function to attend in India now. I dun think anyone is watching this space anymore but im sure all excited about whats coming up. By the time I go back, there should be drafts of the first few panels of my story. And hopefully like what i intended, two years to come out with the book itself.

Perceptions ??

I just came home from work again, and i suddenly remembered something.

Thats something is called a habit.
A habit that I developed because of others, or should you say

SOCIETY.

I can never understand ladies, or probably I should start

understanding them. Its always these few groups of ladies whose

living in my flat that always have the

" DUN TRY TO TOUCH ME"

kinda look. Whenever I take lifts these days,

I try to avoid taking them with young ladies ; especially

late nights.

WHY? they keep giving you the F$$k off look that

somewhere down the elevator your gonna strip their clothes.

[And most of the time they ain't pretty]

So, I finally decided to have a habit to save my own image;

I found out how unappreciated you can be
even how far you have gone. For somethings,
people just simply care for themselves no matter
what you have done for them. I couldn't expect
to hear nonsense from such high level personnel
and maybe, well just maybe, I might do the same too.

Confusing as can be, Some people lie infront of you
to make sure troubles dun get in their way or they lie
to make sure they get out of trouble. Why can't eveyone just
say "look, i just dun wish to help you." instead of lieing.
Does it look more presentable because you actually thought
that lieing would get you away with things as easier as telling
the truth???

WeddinGzzZZ~~~

Just finish being a sword holder again, but this one round,

not only did i recieve the invitation card, it was more fun.

Partly because the group of sword holders were people I knew.

And also, the bridge-groom seemed more "ONz" and

really know how to talk cork on stage. Been thinking on and

off about weddingz since I have seen two.

Its really giving me the influence that I should probably get

married because its so,....wonderfuL?

Seems like I've gone sissy.
Or should I say, I really did think alot and probably thats because

of experience in life? I used to go for weddings when I was small

and it seemed like really idiotic where I can never understand

why they must spend money to treat people for dinner when they

can just sign the ROM and do a casual wedding at home.

It really was grand to be able to walk done the road facing your friends

telling them your stories. And its more grand even when you are

a officer having the previlage to give your wife a sacred military

wedding with sword holders......

Birthday....

I suddenly remember all my birthday wishes never came true.

Perhaps I didn't blew hard on the candles.

I didn't even tell anyone what I wished for...

so actually I have been wondering for 20 ++ years what went wrong

and the only reason was probably my wishes were last minute thoughts.

So now, I have finally set a goal,

I am going to plan my birthday wishes in advance.....

But then again....

my friends always dun celebrate my birthdays....

I actually forgotten what i wanted to post.

I used to be forgetful, and i still have been.

Its late at night and im sorta restless.

Finally, Im back, back to a familiar shout space.

I can't helped but get back in. Its been 3 months. And somethings just can't

only thing that we do everyday is making choices.

I decided not to go back to NYP. Not because I dun want to,

but because, theres really too much restriction I'm on.

As much as i liked, I would love to go back NYP DMD to become

a young lecturer. I really dunno how to break it out to my lecturer,

especially someone which inspired me sooo.... much and...

probably I will never have the chance to pick up the offer he gave.

Lots of people decided not to ask me why i left her.

Some couldn't bother, most probably had their own judgement,

the closest ones knewn its hopeless even if they asked.

Sincerely, I dun even know wat to say.

But i guess leaving it behind was the best part i did?

because seems like her life is so much viabraint

[or was in vaibraint??]

last but not least, i'm still single and, till date,

I still dun understand why you always felt I had other girls outside.

Probably when i get older some day, more matured some day,

I might know why.

And when i dun wish to answer something,

its still the same reason,

"I just dun like to repeat myself with things which are just not there"

I do still missed the relationship.

And you will probably never know or believe that anymore.

National Day Parade

This is the last post of the blog.

And probably I should have post earlier, but its the 1 year anniversay.

And with this 1 year anniversary,

this blog is gonna come to an end.

Having post today, just after NDP

[with a big relief off my back]

It also signifies the end of my era, part of my own history.

Its probably good because, having been in the team of mobile collumn,

it only appears every 5 years.

so the next time round you guys wanna see army and home team vehicles,

you have to wait for another 5 years for the drive pass. And more so

important is because, national stadium gonna revamp.

In short, I came the correct way and did Mobile Collumn 2005 being

the 5th drive pass in Singapore History.

Aug 09 2005

yesterday was a completely different event. Having been in my CO's Landrover,

we drove pass to the estate routes, waving to all the passerbys of all age,

race. The unexpected teens [ mostly guys] wave back to us and it was

totally spectacular..I didn't think everyone would go all Ga-Ga

over the Mobile Column. And when we stopped, lots of people ask for our

drive-pass routes. Lots of uncle and aunties came rushing down the

estates waving and snapping photos of us.

It was a 1 in a life time event.

I'm glad I was part of this important team, delievering the army and home

teams' vehicles to the residence.

For a second, I actually felt like a star yesterday, lots of cheering and

screaming from the crowds along the roads....not the usual Singapore

I know. Most of whom I believe won't even give you a glance on a normal day.

And yet, our National Day change all that. Even when we were travelling

towards Jurong, the SCDF guys form a straight line outside their fire house

cheering us on.

If only our country remain that friendly everyday, every second.

Thats the site of my fellow coursemate who studied the same course

as me, thats DMD [ Digital Media Design] And recently, he just got a site up,

Thumbs up, can't be more happy to see his site.

[not because he got good works lar.. -___- !]

lolx kiddinz kiddinz, but because at least i know another personal

haven give up in this industry....its quite sad, alot of coursemate has stopped

drawing since they went into the army.

But for THIS guy, you all should go take a look because his

3] plain honest [ or plain dumb if you look at another way,lol]

His got a good history of interest in the 3D field, much far better than myself.

Hmm.. just finish drawing this idiot, whom dunno how to act.

anyhow, while drawing him and looking at his feature.

I came to a conclusion,

HE IS NOT HANDSOME.

He got Pa Jiao eye and actually a normal skull.

But because of his mini eye, he looks cool.

And on top of his expressionless personality,

he stands out from the crowd.

Anyhow, thats none of my business,
